On February 14th, Valentine’s

Day 1880, 22 year-old Theodore Roosevelt

became engaged to Alice Hathaway Lee, just 19,

sending his Little Pearl 42 opulent bouquets. A

dozen roses were clearly not special enough for

his betrothed Baby Queen.

How I would have loved to have seen that florist

bill.

Winston Churchill suffered from the skin disease, Alopecia, when the immune system falters causing radical hair loss. Few people knew because it only effected his body, not the hair on his head.

I’ll bet Winnie, who used to throw his hearing aids across the conference table he hated them so much, looked like one big baby…sans culottes…without his breeches.

A dog and bone is English slang for a rotary phone.

Chuffed is British for being humbly delighted.

They chat up rather than flirt, and snog instead of kiss.

Singers Elvis Presley,

  Jimi Hendrix   and Amy Winehouse,

comedians John Belushi and Chris Farley, actors Richard Burton and Philip Seymour Hoffman, along with the writer F. Scott Fitzgerald,
teen idol David Cassidy and
Massachusetts Congressman Daniel Webster, are all listed as dying of the effects of alcoholism.

Kind of gives last call a ghoulish thrill.

Eric Clapton, Hugh Grant, Alexander Hamilton, Leonardo da Vinci, Steve Jobs, Marilyn Monroe, Brad Pitt and Oprah were all born illegitimate.

Robert Kennedy running for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1968, was not planning to attend the California Primary held at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He and members of his family were staying in Malibu, guests of the director John Frankenheimer deciding to watch the returns from there, even ordering multiple television sets to install throughout the house.

He was later convinced, because of the crowd already gathering, that he needed to make an appearance, alas, his life ending in the kitchen of the now razed hotel, due to that fateful decision.

His funeral train.

We were never promised another sunrise…

Theodore Roosevelt, mourning his wife Alice, his Little Pearl, dying at 22 two days after giving birth to a baby girl.
