Bill Hicks…A Man Of The Hour

 Today is Bill’s 62nd birthday.

I wonder how he’s celebrating up there in the ether. I envision him with pals like Sam Kinison and Dan Vitale eating cake and making one another laugh.

Knowing Bill he’s made new friends, ones he admired like Pryor, Carlin and Lenny Bruce, and being the guitar player he was, if Eddie Van Halen is at the table, I wouldn’t at all be surprised.

As you can see even all these years later, think of him as if he’s still here.

I can only imagine what he thinks about the up and coming Presidential election.

Did you just hear a thunderclap?

The thing about Bill, he wasn’t afraid to tell the truth about anything. Nothing was veiled or sugar-coated so not to offend.

Besides Bill in general, that’s what we’re missing…the raw, uncooked, unadulterated truth.

He’d wipe the floor with it to the point where you’d be squirming in your seat, but with admiration for his courageous, limitless candor.

Nowadays he’d probably need a body guard to see him home.

A great reader, his curiosity along with intelligence, knew no bounds.

A story I love is when a friend of his called from L.A., or Hell-A, as Bill referred to Los Angeles, and said…hey Bill, I’m here by the pool, what are you doin?

Bill said: What am I doin’? I’m readin’…that’s what we do here back east, we read.

 The definition of a hero…

a person who is idolized or admired for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities…a champion, a knight…

 a man of the hour.

 Happy Birthday Willie.

You’ll always be my Man of the Hour.

 Always and Ever,

 Susannah
