When Ruth Bader Ginsberg, associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, died in 2020, after Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell refused her the honor of lying-in-state in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, the first woman to ever have the honor, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, gave permission for Ruth to lie-in-state in Statuary Hall where the likes of Senators Daniel Webster, John Quincy Adams and Henry Clay once stood resulting in making it much more poignant.

  In 1988, Gloria Vanderbilt’s eldest son, Carter Cooper, brother of Anderson, at 23 took his life by jumping from a window at his mother’s Manhattan home while she, alas, tried unsuccessfully talking him out of it.

  His funeral was held in New York City at the iconic Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in the Judy Garland Memorial Chapel.
