I wasn’t going to write about this, but it just won’t leave me be, ignited by the incident on the film, Rust, where a 42 year-old woman, a wife and mother, was killed in a careless, senseless accident with a loaded prop gun.
Looking at life’s events through grace’s eye, feel that God once again had to raise his voice so we’d finally pay attention.
A film gun, used merely for effect goes unchecked, taking a life, injuring another’s, yet gun laws stay glued in place by the closed-minded, which brings me to the kid who just pleaded guilty, looking at life imprisonment, for the Parkland, Florida shooting in 2018 at Stoneman Douglas High School killing 17 people, injuring 17 others.
Nikolas Cruz, a former student of the school, notoriously known for being not quite right, owned ten guns he never went anywhere without, to the knowledge of those closest to him. He posted threats of violence on social media, and though the FBI knew, did nothing.
I’m no Einstein nor Sherlock Holmes, but how is a 19 year-old boy able to walk into a store purchasing numerous firearms as if he’s buying gum?
Wonder if Carolyn D. Meadows would take my call, the president of the NRA replacing Oliver North in 2019, or is she too busy cleaning her pistols.
Wearing a holster while baking must have Norman Rockwell and his paint brushes, bristling in their grave.
Reminds me of Nancy Lanza in Newtown, Connecticut, who taught her young son, Adam, to shoot, becoming his first fatality before he took out 27 others, mostly kids, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 before turning his 223-semiautomatic on himself.
As an aside, sanity front and center, when our beloved Founders created the Second Amendment, The Right to Bear Arms, in 1791, it was when we didn’t even have locks on our doors.
A bear could come in and help himself to breakfast.
