I smiled at 14 people while in the park this morning, purposely counting them. Only three smiled back, all dog owners proving once again, the four-legged improve our moods.

When had a friendly face become such a threat? They look at you like you’ve gone batty. You can almost hear them if they’re walking in twos whispering….it’s that nut who always smiles. Lets go the other way.

I won’t lie, but New York City has an angry attitude like none before. You feel it as you go about your business. Between the way people dress without any proper boundary, and how they practically ram into you hoping for a fight, it’s gotten scary out there.

One Asian woman texting, bumped right into me…no I’m sorry, just a dirty look as if I should have gotten out of her way.

Another thing I witnessed was a biker on the sidewalk almost run into a little boy walking with his nanny.

He was about 3, eating ice cream when this idiot bumped him, causing him and his cone to fall on the pavement. To the kid’s credit, he didn’t cry, but seemed shocked that he was suddenly on the ground. The nanny gently said, “It’s okay Chrissie, we’ll go get more ice cream. But it wasn’t okay, the incident staying with me all day.

You do not ride a bicycle on the sidewalk. It’s a no-brainer. The problem is, no one enforces laws anymore despite cops being  everywhere. Target, has a sign …Only service dogs allowed, that are easily identified by their collar.

No one honors that either. I watched a poodle relieve itself in the cookie aisle, its owner ignoring it, walking away. Some underpaid woman would now have to mop it.

I chalk it all up to the way things have been post Covid, ala Trump who I hold personally responsible.

Presidents, former or otherwise, are supposed to be role models. His own behavior gives Americans of all races and wealth the permission to actually push you out of the way as if it’s their birthright.

I can go on and on, but we need to stop going backwards. Pretty soon we’ll be too wild for our world as if any minute we’ll be in a Mad Max film, driving tanks.

  You think I’m kidding?
