Harry Truman served as Vice-President for only 82 days before replacing his boss, Franklin D. Roosevelt who died at 63 without any drumroll, his doctors not letting on how sick he really was.

Truman might have turned the job down if he had known.

  Talk about an unwanted promotion.

When Truman asked what he could do for Mrs. Roosevelt, she replied, “Is there anything we can do for you Mr. Truman? You are the one in trouble now.” What could he say after that?

  Is the bar open?

  Speaking of….

In Australia, if a man drinks too much causing a little sexual delay, it’s called Brewer’s Droop, something to be considered when one hears last call.

Screen icons Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, all had nose jobs.

Let’s toss in the singer Dean Martin as a bonus.

The fact it’s called rhinoplasty is an affront to all rhinos.

France claims to have 1,200 different types of cheese. One can’t help cheering for their mice.

According to the food writer John Baxter, Marie Antionette never said to her French subjects…

If they have no bread, then let them eat cake. She was only 10 years-old when it was coined by the writer, Jean-Jaques Rousseau who, in his story, referred to a great princess with no name.

Just goes to show how rumors get started.

A griffe, in French, is what they call someone’s routine…places they prefer and frequent: restaurants, food stores, bookshops, a sister of the word quotidian meaning a daily occurrence.

In New York it’s called, I’m too lazy to go anyplace new.

32% of all Americans have a tattoo.

But nothing beats the Canadian singer, Justin Bieber having 70.

In 2018, the esteemed food writer Anthony Bourdain’s mother Gladys, who was never a fan of tattoos, to honor her late son who had many, had Tony in small letters tattooed on the inside of her wrist.

When your mom breaks down and comes around, in this case literally, you have to be smiling from wherever you are.

One American who didn’t have one because he was too busy standing up for others, though you can get one of his face added to your collection including his famous mugshot, was Ol’ Blue Eyes.

Frank Sinatra in the 1960s, fought for Civil Rights boycotting segregated hotels. He was significantly involved getting Las Vegas to allow their Black performers to stay in the same hotels where they performed. He said, as an Italian not always respected, knew how they felt.

I’ll tell you this, I sure wouldn’t have wanted Frank pissed off at me, not after offering to whack Woody for Mia.

Speaking of segregation, in 1901 when President Theodore Roosevelt invited the Black educator and former slave, Booker T. Washington to the White House for dinner, the south went nuts.

To Teddy’s credit, he just didn’t care.

Hey, I’m the President remember, and you’re not.

It’s a pity they were born in different eras, since he and Frank no doubt would have been great pals.

Frank I’m sure would have gladly offered to whack Taft and Woodrow Wilson.

What are friends for after all?
