I was asked my opinion of Ghislaine Maxwell, found guilty of 6 counts of federal sex trafficking.
I paused knowing, the person asking was probably spoiling for a fight, and did I want to hop in the ring with her over something that had nothing to do with us really, except we were both women abused as kids.
Toss in, she’s an un-vaccinated Trump lover, and I should have hopped in the nearest cab.
As far as abuse goes, no, I wasn’t lured on a jet to give some rich, randy guy a massage in all the wrong places, but too have my stories of being taken advantage of at a young age.
That said.
Donning my boxing gloves, I said, Jeffrey Epstein left Ms Maxwell holding the bag when he, or someone else, conveniently took him out in his jail cell, and what I felt she was most guilty of, the other charges questionable, was she knew what he was doing and didn’t do anything about it.
It was something I knew about, once having a boyfriend who was most inappropriate with his young daughter, ending our relationship after confronting him.
Morally speaking, one can’t turn a blind eye.
My opponent, as I knew she would, went off the rails.
“What do you mean, questionable…what about her participation? How she had sex with those mere children. How she joined in!”
“Were you there? Did you see? I didn’t, so I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt, as I do anyone when it’s…but he, but she said, with no proof backing it up. It’s that Atticus Finch in me.”
“Who? Who the hell is that?”
“Look it up,” I said, now fully engaged, or enraged rather.
“How can you be so blind. Just look at her, she’s got pervert written all over her.”
“What if someone said that about you? Then said that you fondled her, made her do things. How would you feel?”
“How could you say such a ridiculous thing?”
“The same way anyone can say such a thing, and get away with it since, now you’re guilty before proven innocent.”
She looked as if she might hit me.
“Susannah, I think something’s seriously wrong with you.”
“That’s the first thing we agree on, since, I’m asking myself why I’m standing here talking to you when you’re not even wearing a mask.”
I then left, leaving her sputtering like Elmer Fudd.
I’ll be blunt.
I hate how easily lives are ruined without even a decent drum roll, and no, I’m not referring to Ghislaine who’s far from innocent.
But she did deserve better council and more of a chance to lessen the 60 years they wanted to give to Epstein, who yes, was a creep.
Here’s another zinger, the powers that be, and I’m sure with his full cooperation since, there was no way the Marquis de Sade of our time was spending the rest of his life in a 6 by 8 jail cell, made all the arrangements since, if he was ever in court, let’s just say, Prince Andrew would seem like cheese on a Ritz compared to the men who would be brought to light.
You don’t need to a be a Corleone to get that one.
As for Jeff’s partner in crime, well…at best, she’ll have plenty of time to read in the prison library, if granted the privilege.
